How to watch the BBC’s region-restricted content from outside the UK

One word: TunnelBear.

note: I am not affiliated with TunnelBear in any way, nor am I getting anything for promoting it. I just find it extremely easy to use, and I thought you should all know about it.

Q) What is TunnelBear?
A) TunnelBear is the world’s easiest to use consumer VPN software that securely “tunnels” your internet connection to locations around the world. It allows you to experience the internet as people in that country experience it.

Q) How does TunnelBear work?
A) TunnelBear creates a secure, encrypted connection between your computer and a server in the host country you want to connect to. This both protects your privacy allows you to simulate the internet experience from that country.

Q) I love TunnelBear, but is it legal?
A) There’s nothing illegal about VPN services. VPN is used by millions of people everyday in large and small companies. However, TunnelBear users should be aware of the Terms & Services of each site and service they consume to ensure they are understand and comply with the conditions.

Q) Can I use TunnelBear from country ______?
A) Yup, you can use TunnelBear from anywhere in the world. Except China, as it turns out Panda Bears are not friendly with TunnelBears.

And the best part? You can use the “little” TunnelBear for free! That’s 500MB of data per month, and you can get a bonus 1GB of free data by participating in their Twitter promotion. (You just send them a tweet asking for free data, and they give it to you. They get free publicity, you get an extra 1GB of data. You can do this once a month.)

If you find that 1.5GB of data/month isn’t enough for you, you can upgrade to the “Giant” TunnelBear for $5/month, which gives you unlimited usage. (If you really like TunnelBear and want to save $10/year, you can choose the “Grizzly” option.)

Have I convinced you yet? If so, go here to download TunnelBear!

another note: This was all accurate at the time I made this post, but the details are subject to change. If they do, let me know, and I will update the post.
And if you’re still not sure about all this, here’s Neil Gaiman recommending TunnelBear to Wil Wheaton.
